Many, many hours. I wish I counted how many! At least 8 yesterday, and about 4 today. All PS7 for sketching and painting, as well as textures and some brushes I made myself.
I might... "dive" back into this later, and add some little details, then covertly hit "edit deviation" and upload a new image. lol.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with it, although the left arm [his right] feels a tad unnatural to me, and if i were to go back into this, it would be one of the things on the list to repaint.
*oggles* That is beautiful! The texture, and the bubbles, and everything! I am at a momentary loss for words, which only happens in the very amazingest of circumstances...

"Ask the tulips," scoffed one tigerlily. But of all the flowers in the garden Alice did not talk to one tulip... they were too busy cutting themselves and writing sad poetry...
Wow! The lighting and textures are beautiful!
His right arm does look a bit awkward, though. Hmm...Try moving it slightly down towards his body, so there is a straight line from shoulder to shoulder, continue the highlight on his arm up to his shoulder, shorten the arm, and maybe have the arm bend a little so it's not so stiff. I think that should fix it.
ooh pretty blue colour! I love mermen and I could stare at those bubbles for hours!...infact I could stare at the whole picture for hours very beautiful!
